- these swift, nimble hunters rely on their speed and small statures to hide in tall grass and ambush their prey. there are few trees in the savanna, so they prefer to keep to the low ground.
- tunnels populate the terrain, dug by prairie dogs, and they chase after these rodents, consuming them. veldtclan cats rely on field mice, rats, small birds, even meerkats if they can to survive.
- they avoid mongooses, big cats (lions, leopards, cheetahs, etc.), zebras, gazelles, hippos, rhinos, wildebeests, giraffes, jackals, hyenas, and any large animal that could easily overpower them.
- in the dry season, they might resort to insects, lizards, and grubs to sustain themselves, though that’s usually as a last resort.
- these felines have no qualms against scavenging. carrion is plentiful around these parts, and they take full advantage of this opportunity.
